Enugu Rangers celebrating victory

Nigeria Professional Football League Champions, Enugu Rangers, have been celebrating since their 38th league game against Gombe United in Jos, Plateau State.

The Flying Antelopes were flown to Enugu in an airplane and have been seen parading the title in affluent celebration, a stark contrast to their last championship in 2016.

During their 2016 title campaign, which marked their seventh league title, they were awarded 40 million by the Nigeria Football Federation and held a title parade using a run-down trailer. This led to widespread mockery and insults, prompting the club to issue an official apology, stating: “We are sincerely sorry for the embarrassment yesterday during our victory parade. God bless you all.”

The General Manager of the club, Barr. Amobi, disclosed during the celebration the club’s readiness for the CAF Champions League next season.

“What our victory means is that we must look at the development of the facilities.

“We’ve gone around Africa to scout for players that will fit into the era we’re entering now, which is the CAF Champions League. We’re going to do our best to make us proud on the African continent.

“We’re not just going to participate but compete favorably because we now have the means and the support base to do that.”
