Fourth Batch of Evacuated Nigerians Arrives from South Africa, Total Returnees Hit 1,141

—

The fourth batch of Nigerians evacuated from South Africa has arrived in Nigeria, bringing the total number of returnees airlifted under the Federal Government’s evacuation exercise to 1,141.

The 282 evacuees touched down at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos on Friday, July 10, aboard a chartered Air Peace flight.

The evacuation follows renewed anti-immigrant protests in South Africa, which prompted more than 1,000 Nigerians to register for voluntary repatriation.

Authorities said the final batch of evacuees is expected to arrive in Nigeria next week.
