In a coordinated effort led by France, Germany, and the Netherlands, supported by international partners including the UK, US, and Ukraine, Operation Endgame has dealt a blow to global cybercrime networks.
The operation, spanning Ukraine and Armenia, culminated in the arrest of four individuals suspected of orchestrating large-scale botnet operations.
Key highlights from the operation include the disruption or takedown of over 100 internet servers crucial to the infrastructure of multiple botnets.
Among the dismantled botnets were notorious strains such as IcedID, Smokeloader, SystemBC, Pikabot, and Bumblebee, which have been central to ransomware deployment worldwide.
Law enforcement agencies have gained control over more than 2,000 domains used in criminal activities, marking a crucial step in neutralizing ransomware deployment infrastructure.
Authorities allege that one of the suspects amassed approximately 69 million euros through cryptocurrency transactions, primarily by leasing criminal infrastructure for ransomware operations.
Operation Endgame has shown a concerted international effort to combat cyber threats, demonstrating the effectiveness of cross-border collaboration in dismantling sophisticated cybercriminal networks.
