Former Super Eagles forward Michael Eneramo has tragically passed away after collapsing during a football match in Kaduna State. He was 40 years old.
The incident occurred on Friday at the Angwan Yelwa pitch in the Television area of Kaduna. Eneramo, who featured as a second-half substitute, reportedly collapsed suddenly without any contact from other players.
Eyewitnesses said attempts were made to revive him immediately after he slumped on the pitch, but all efforts proved unsuccessful. He was subsequently rushed to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Eneramo, a former Nigerian international, had a notable career with the Super Eagles before retiring from professional football. After retirement, he devoted his time to mentoring young players through his football academy.
The Super Eagles paid tribute to the late striker on their official platform, writing: “Rest in peace, Michael.”
His sudden death has left the football community in shock, with tributes expected to pour in from fans, teammates, and football authorities.
