Former President Goodluck Jonathan loses sister

Madam Obebhatein Jonathan, the elder sister of former President Goodluck Jonathan passed away on Thursday, January 11, at the Federal Medical Centre in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State, after a brief illness.

In a statement issued by Mr Ikechukwu Eze, the Special Adviser on Media to Goodluck Jonathan, it was mentioned that Madam Obebhatein, affectionately known as Amissi, was a retired teacher, businesswoman, loving mother, and grandmother. She dedicated her life to serving God and humanity.

Described as a devout Christian, virtuous woman, and role model, her contributions were acknowledged both within and outside her community.

The family has scheduled Madam Obebhatein’s burial for Tuesday, February 16, 2024, and the details of the funeral rites will be announced by the family.

This is undoubtedly a difficult time for the Jonathan family, and they are in mourning for the loss of their beloved sister.

Madam Obebhatein Jonathan was 70 years old.
