Former President Muhammadu Buhari is gearing up to assume a crucial position in the inaugural Katsina Dialogue, an initiative specifically designed to tackle the widespread problem of drug abuse among the youth in the state.
This signifies his commitment to actively engage in efforts aimed at addressing and finding solutions to the pressing issue of substance misuse among the younger population within the region.
The theme for this dialogue is ‘Confronting the Drug Menace: Securing Katsina’s Future.’
The Katsina Consultative Forum, the organizing body, emphasizes the gravity of the issue through Buhari’s involvement.
Alhaji Aminu Danmusa, Chairman of the Forum, stated during a press conference on Wednesday, “This is more than just a conference; it’s a call to action, a strong plea for unity in facing our shared challenges and shaping a brighter, healthier future for the youth of Katsina.”
Leading the discourse will be Dr. Usman Bugaje, a scholar with expertise in both pharmaceuticals and political science.
He will be joined by a panel comprising five prominent Katsina citizens, among them Dr. Asma’u Abdulkadir, the Katsina State NDLEA Commandant, and the Special Adviser to the Governor on Drugs and Narcotics.
Danmusa highlighted the diverse perspectives within the panel and their profound understanding of the local context, ensuring a comprehensive and fruitful discussion.
Emphasizing the transformative nature of the Katsina Dialogue, Danmusa remarked, “It’s not just a forum for discussion; it’s a catalyst for change.
It represents a commitment to forging a path toward meaningful solutions, effective policies, and concrete action plans.
The objective is to provide the young population in Katsina with the essential tools and resources required to withstand the temptations associated with drug use and to actively contribute to the creation of a more promising and positive future for both themselves and the overall well-being of their state.
This initiative seeks to empower the youth by equipping them with the necessary means to resist the appeal of drugs, fostering a sense of resilience and enabling them to construct a brighter path forward.
The ultimate goal is to cultivate a community where the youth are empowered, engaged, and equipped to make informed decisions that contribute to their personal growth and the betterment of the state of Katsina.
