Former NLC President Takai Shamang Kidnapped in Kaduna State

The former President of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Mr. Takai Shamang, has been kidnapped from his hometown of Biniki in the Kaura Local Government Area of Kaduna State. 

Mr. Shamang, who is 78 years old, is a well-known labour leader and a prominent figure in Nigeria’s trade union movement.
He served as the president-general of the National Union of Electricity and Gas Workers, which is now known as the National Union of Electricity Employees, from 1982 to 1989.
The abduction was confirmed by his daughter, Mrs. Grace Abbin, on Sunday. According to her, the kidnapping took place around 8:00 pm on Friday when her father was taken from his residence in Biniki.
In addition to his significant contributions to the labour movement, Mr. Shamang is also the founder and President of the Gantys Aid for Widows, Orphans, and Needy Foundation (GAWON Foundation).
This philanthropic organization is dedicated to supporting vulnerable groups, reflecting Shamang’s lifelong commitment to social justice and community service.
