Former Gwer-West Chairperson Abducted by Suspected Fulani Bandits in Benue State

Suspected bandits believed to be Fulani herdsmen reportedly kidnapped Mrs. Eunice Mbajwa, the former female chairperson of the Gwer-West area of Benue State, over the weekend.

The incident occurred while Mrs. Mbajwa, accompanied by other family members, was working on her farmland in Nyiti. Heavily armed gunmen stormed the area and whisked her away.

According to reports, other members of her family fled the scene in fear for their lives. An eyewitness, who chose to remain anonymous, disclosed that the attack took place on Friday afternoon around 2:30 p.m.

The gunmen, suspected to be Fulani herdsmen, invaded the farm and abducted Mrs. Mbajwa, while others present managed to escape.

As of now, there has been no contact or communication from the abductors with Mrs. Mbajwa’s family.

The Benue State Police Public Relations Officer, Superintendent Catherine Anene, stated that the incident has not yet been reported to the police.

This kidnapping is part of a troubling trend in the area, where bandit activities have increasingly resulted in abductions and heightened insecurity.
