Francisca Owumi, a former contestant and first runner-up of the inaugural season of Big Brother Naija (BBNaija) in 2006, has passed away.
The news of her death was confirmed by her family through an Instagram post on August 29, 2024. The post, which shared the sorrowful news, read: “A daughter and sister. May her soul rest in peace, Amen.”
According to reports, Owumi succumbed to a brief illness. She was a standout figure in the first season of BBNaija, remembered for her dance moves and engaging personality. During her time on the show, she competed alongside notable housemates including Katung Aduwak, Ebuka Obi-Uchendu, Gideon Okeke, and the late Joseph Ada.
Following her reality TV career, Owumi ventured into the music industry, releasing singles “Gbadun You” and “Diva” in 2012 under her label, Cisca Entertainment. She also worked as a writer for Revista, an international magazine based in Ghana.
Her passing marks a significant loss for the entertainment community and her fans.
