Nottingham Forest head coach, Nuno EspÃrito Santo, has explained why Super Eagles talisman, Taiwo Awoniyi was not involved in their Premier League tie against Luton Town over the weekend, asserting that the Nigerian had been injured before the game.Â

According to multiple reports, the injury could keep Awoniyi out of action until April, meaning he won’t be available when the Super Eagles take on Ghana and Mali in international friendlies late this month.
Awoniyi missed the 2023AFCON after being confirmed as not fit and was replaced in the process. While his presence may have added a massive impact on the Super Eagles in Ivory, the Eagles reached the final but were denied their fourth by the Elephants.
