For Real Change, Everyone Must Come Out— Amaechi, Son Join Frontline Abuja Protests Over E-Transmission Rejection

Former Rivers State governor and ADC chieftain, Rotimi Amaechi, has dismissed claims that politicians incite protests from the comfort of abroad, insisting that mass civic action requires personal sacrifice.

Amaechi stated this in Abuja, as he joined protests against the Senate’s rejection of e-transmission of election results.

The former Works Minister emphasized that more Nigerians should be on the streets whenever citizens’ rights are threatened, stressing that protests must be collective, not selective.

“I’ve always told people that when there is a protest, all of us should come out,” he said. “Some claim politicians push protests while their children are overseas. I brought my first son here with me. He’s a medical doctor, and he’s here to treat anyone who may be injured.”

The former governor said his decision to bring his son was a statement of commitment, underscoring that leaders must stand shoulder to shoulder with the people they call to action.
