A shocking incident unfolded during a football match in the town of Scholler, near Eldorado, Argentina.
A video captured the disturbing moment when a 62-year-old referee named Remigio Armoa allegedly pulled out a knife and stabbed a 21-year-old player, identified as “Kevin A,” who had reportedly shoved him during the game.
In the mobile phone footage recorded by a stunned fan, players from opposing teams surrounded the referee as tensions escalated.
When one player began pushing the official, Armoa is accused of responding with violence, allegedly stabbing the footballer in the chest.
The video shows the injured player staggering before being assisted off the pitch by teammates.
Local reports revealed that Kevin A was rushed to the hospital with a punctured lung. His uncle, who described him as the “Messi of the family,” shared the family’s shock and concern.
Despite the delicate situation, he expressed gratitude that Kevin A, a talented footballer planning to leave the sport to care for his seven-month-old baby, survived the attack.
“He is a boy well gifted for football, thank God he had the opportunity to be in a club like Chacarita.” The uncle added the 21-year-old was on the verge of leaving football to take care of his seven-month-old baby and now they want justice for what happened.
Remigio Armoa, the referee implicated in the incident, was later arrested by the police. Authorities confiscated the knife believed to have been used in the attack, with a photograph of the weapon released to the media.
The player’s uncle emphasized the family’s desire for justice, stating, “All he wants is to have fun on the playing field, and we never believed that he could get stabbed with a perforation in the lung from a soccer game.”
