Food For Thought

Food-wise, let us find out

what is a recipe for disaster

for me. Think of food, focus, fun,

time, tact, skills and ingredients.

Jan has been a month-long

festivity where we touched on

foods, foodies, all: our favorites.

I don’t think cool cooking or catering

is my area of specialty, burnt offerings

can testify to that past of laxity and ashes.

On that score, my writing appetite or mania

is blamable, perhaps think of the idiom:

too many cooks spoil the soup. How can

writing be guilty? Food for thought.

All cooking is an art just like writing,

painting, drawing, dancing or singing.

For me, the issue is about an attempt

at multitasking: cooking and writing

at the same time. Confession: I have had

more disasters than delectable diners

by virtue of blending the two activities.

More often than not, paper and pen

lure, take over , and transport my mind

away from the mechanics of the kitchen

that seek to spice up my taste buds,

and I disremember all, save for the words.

How desirous, devious and delicious, writing is!

Anyway, let me put a lid on this piece,

for when I put food on the stove , I was

inevitably putting my culinary capacities

to the test, a foodie said it is fair for me

to cook my food. It is healthy. In her words:

Food can be fun but following one’s heart

to the junk-filled fat fridge too frequently

can be a sure way of welcoming obesity.
