Food Delivery Service, Chowdeck Announces Changes In Packaging

—

Femi Aluko, Co-Founder and CEO of Chowdeck, has revealed a major change in the company’s packaging strategy.
The popular food delivery service, known for its signature brown paper bags and stickers, has decided to phase out their widespread use due to several compelling reasons.
Aluko emphasized the company’s commitment to excellence but cited challenges in maintaining consistent quality standards for their iconic brown bags and stickers.
As Chowdeck’s order volume skyrocketed from 1,000+ daily orders in January 2023 to over 12,000 daily orders now, finding vendors capable of meeting this surge in demand while adhering to their stringent quality requirements became increasingly difficult.
Engaging stakeholders within the Nigerian market has been a priority for Chowdeck.
However, the company faced obstacles in securing additional bag and sticker production services that could keep up with their demand and deliver within reasonable timeframes.
Infrastructural inadequacies, including erratic power supply and fuel costs, further complicated the production process.
To avoid the risk of delivering meals without anticipated packaging, Chowdeck made the strategic decision to phase out the widespread use of paper bags and stickers.
Chowdeck will commence the phased withdrawal of paper bags and stickers starting January 13, 2024.
To address the concerns of loyal customers accustomed to the signature packaging, the company introduced an optional packaging fee of NGN200, allowing customers to select it at checkout.
