The Federal Ministry of Education (FME) has distanced itself from an association operating under the name “National Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) of the Federal Unity Colleges,” declaring the body unrecognised and unauthorised.
In a press release issued on September 21, 2026, and signed by the Director of Press and Public Relations, Boriowo Folasade, the ministry clarified that the association has no mandate to speak on behalf of the 118 Federal Unity Colleges nationwide, their individual PTAs, parents or guardians.
The ministry consequently advised the public to disregard any statements, directives, appeals or other communications issued by the association, stressing that they have no official standing.
Parents and guardians were urged to rely solely on official communications from the Federal Ministry of Education or the management of their respective Federal Unity Colleges regarding school matters and academic activities.

Meanwhile, the Minister of Education, Dr Maruf Tunji Alausa, CON, has called on parents and guardians to ensure that their children and wards are present in their respective schools, noting that the 2026/2027 academic session has officially commenced nationwide.
Reaffirming the administration’s commitment to the Unity Colleges, Alausa said the ministry remained focused on ensuring effective school administration and providing a safe, conducive and supportive environment for students’ learning and overall development throughout the academic year.
