At least five people have been killed in separate attacks on Thursday night and Friday morning in communities around the compound of Rev. Ezekiel Dachomo in Barkin Ladi Local Government Area of Plateau State.
Local sources said armed men, reportedly speaking Fulani, stormed a civilian security watchpost in Sabon Angwa community, about a mile from Rev. Dachomo’s church, at approximately 7 p.m. on Thursday, killing four persons.
Reports say, before the bodies of the victims could be evacuated from the scene, another attack was launched early Friday morning in Rakung, barely 600 metres from the church in Barkin Ladi town, leaving one resident dead.
It remains unclear whether Rev. Dachomo, who has been vocal about attacks on Christian communities in Plateau State, was the intended target of the assailants.
The latest killings come just two days after seven people were reportedly killed in another attack in Gyero, Gyel District, on the southwestern outskirts of Jos. The victims of that attack are yet to be buried.
Further details surrounding the attacks, including the identities of the perpetrators and the circumstances leading to the killings, remain unclear as of press time.
The News Chronicle will continue to monitor developments as more information emerges.
