The first aircraft transporting military equipment from the United States has landed in Nigeria, marking a significant development in defence cooperation between the two countries.
The United States Africa Command (AFRICOM) confirmed the arrival in a statement posted on its official X (formerly Twitter) account on Wednesday. The delivery was reported by Prime Trust News.
According to AFRICOM, the consignment forms part of ongoing security collaboration aimed at strengthening Nigeria’s capacity to tackle security challenges and enhance regional stability.
Although details of the specific equipment delivered were not disclosed, the arrival of the aircraft underscores growing military ties between Nigeria and the United States, particularly in the areas of counterterrorism, training, and logistical support.
Nigerian authorities are yet to issue an official statement on the development, but the delivery is expected to boost ongoing efforts to combat insurgency and other security threats across the country.
