FG Unveils New Industrial Policy to Drive Manufacturing Growth

The Federal Government has rolled out a new Nigerian Industrialisation Policy aimed at accelerating manufacturing growth, boosting local value addition, and expanding employment opportunities across the economy.

The policy was unveiled in Lagos during a soft launch event held alongside the presentation of the Nigerian Economic Summit Group Macroeconomic Outlook for 2026.

Minister of State for Industry, Senator John Enoh, said the framework is designed to convert Nigeria’s industrial potential into real productivity gains.

He explained that the policy was developed through broad engagement with industry stakeholders and aligns with President Bola Tinubu’s national development agenda, particularly the focus on economic diversification and industrial expansion.

The framework is anchored on six core areas including competitive production, stronger value chains, import substitution, MSME transition into full scale industry, trade competitiveness within the AfCFTA, and improved institutional coordination.

The policy targets an increase in manufacturing’s contribution to GDP to between 20 percent and 25 percent by 2030, a significant rise from current levels.

The News Chronicle gathered that a dedicated implementation committee has already been set up to ensure the policy moves quickly from planning to execution, with emphasis on job creation, productivity, and measurable outcomes across key sectors.

Enoh also highlighted Nigeria’s strategic position under the AfCFTA, stressing the need to protect the domestic market while enhancing export competitiveness. The formal launch of the policy is expected next month, with President Tinubu scheduled to lead the event.
