To improve security and fight banditry in Kebbi State, the Federal Government has deployed six heavy armored personnel carriers (APCs) to the state on Sunday.
This move is part of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s broader efforts to tackle security challenges in different parts of the country.
Governor Nasir Idris announced the deployment while inspecting the vehicles at the Government House in Birnin Kebbi. He thanked President Tinubu and top security officials for their support.
The governor explained that Kebbi, particularly its southern region, has been suffering from attacks by bandits who cross into the state from Zamfara and Niger states, launch attacks, and then retreat to their hideouts.
He said the arrival of the armored vehicles would help prevent further attacks and improve the safety of lives and property in the affected areas.
Meanwhile, the Commander of the 223 Light Tank Battalion in Zuru, Lieutenant Colonel M. S. Saleh, showed the governor the military equipment and expressed gratitude to both the federal and state governments for their continued support in improving security in Kebbi State.
