FG Reopens 47 Unity Schools After Security Shutdown

—

The Federal Government of Nigeria has announced the reopening of 47 unity schools that were earlier closed due to security challenges.

The announcement was made on Thursday, December 18, 2025, through a statement from the Ministry of Education.
The ministry said the decision shows the government’s commitment to protecting students and ensuring that learning continues without disruption.
The schools were shut down weeks ago after the abduction of students in different parts of the country, which raised serious concerns about the safety of learners in federal schools.
With the reopening of the colleges, the government aims to assure parents, students, and other stakeholders that stronger security measures have been put in place to protect lives and property.
This move is seen as an important step toward restoring confidence in the country’s education system, especially in areas affected by insecurity
