FG Reaffirms Commitment to Upgrading Nigerian Army University Biu

The Federal Government has reaffirmed its commitment to transforming the Nigerian Army University Biu (NAUB) into a premier institution for specialised military and civilian capacity building, as part of efforts to strengthen Nigeria’s human capital and improve the Armed Forces’ ability to address emerging security challenges.
Minister of Defence, General Christopher Gwabin Musa (Rtd), made the pledge while receiving the University’s Governing Council at the Ministry of Defence headquarters in Abuja.
General Musa described NAUB as a strategic institution that plays a vital role in developing the technical and operational expertise needed to tackle increasingly complex security threats.
He disclosed that the Ministry of Defence would work closely with the Armed Forces of Nigeria to fully utilise the 30 per cent admission quota reserved for military personnel, in a bid to bridge critical skills gaps within the nation’s security sector.

According to a statement issued by the Minister’s Special Assistant on Media, Leah Katung-Babatunde, General Musa urged members of the Armed Forces, ministry staff and the general public to take advantage of the university’s advanced technological and academic programmes.
“As the Federal Government pushes for a highly skilled workforce in this digital era, we must encourage members of the Armed Forces, ministry staff, and the general public to leverage the cutting-edge technological and academic solutions available at NAUB,” the minister said.
The meeting also resulted in a joint commitment to address key infrastructural challenges facing the university, including plans to construct a state-of-the-art Centre for Military Performance Management.
The proposed facility is expected to be the first of its kind in Africa and is aimed at advancing military research, training and performance management.
Earlier, the leader of the delegation and Pioneer Pro-Chancellor of NAUB, Lieutenant General Tukur Yusuf Buratai (Rtd), commended General Musa for his leadership and strategic vision, saying his efforts continue to strengthen Nigeria’s defence architecture.
Buratai also expressed appreciation for the minister’s commitment to the Armed Forces and the nation, while reaffirming the university’s dedication to academic excellence, research and national service.
