FG Distributes 21,000 Bags of Rice, Maize, and Millet to Yobe Residents

—

The Yobe State government has expressed gratitude to President Bola Tinubu for approving the release of 21,000 bags of grains to the state.
This announcement was made by Muhammad Goje, the executive secretary of the State Emergency Management Agency, during an interview in Damaturu on Monday.
According to Mr. Goje, the distributed grains, which include rice, maize, guinea corn, and millet, were given to orphans, widows, persons with disabilities, and other vulnerable groups.
He mentioned that Governor Mai Mala Buni had previously set up a committee to manage the distribution of these grains across the state’s 17 local government areas.
This committee included local government chairpersons, anti-corruption groups, and security agencies.
“The committee at both state and local government levels profiled beneficiaries, collecting details such as their names, phone numbers, gender, disability status, and geo-coordinates. This approach ensured transparency and accountability, ensuring that the grains reached those who needed them most.”
“The distribution of grains had a positive impact on the state, reducing the cost of commodities and saving lives across various locations.”
Mr. Goje also noted that the federal government’s intervention complemented the state government’s ongoing efforts to provide relief to the people.
He recalled that Yobe had recently launched a distribution of 50,000 bags of assorted grains, targeting 120,000 vulnerable households across the 17 local government areas, to provide food to those in need.
“Our government had, prior to this, provided several interventions with fair and transparent distribution to eligible beneficiaries. The welfare of the citizens is a top priority for this administration, which is why we continuously intervene to ensure that food is available to the less privileged and vulnerable individuals,” Goje stated.
Several beneficiaries of this palliative measure, speaking in separate interviews in Damaturu, also expressed their gratitude to the president for this intervention.
