The Borno State Police Command confirmed on Monday, the tragic death of Professor Ruth Wazis, who was formerly the Head of the Department of Business Management at the University of Maiduguri.
The unfortunate incident occurred on Sunday at her home.
Police Commissioner Yusuf Lawal provided details of the accident, explaining that Professor Wazis was parking her car in her garage when a mechanical malfunction caused the vehicle to suddenly accelerate. The unexpected surge in speed knocked her to the ground, causing severe injuries to her chest.
Despite immediate efforts to rush Professor Wazis to the hospital, she succumbed to her injuries before receiving full medical assistance.
Security analyst Zagazola Makama reported that the prompt response to her condition was not enough to save her life.
Commissioner Lawal mentioned that her family quickly transported her remains to the hospital following the accident.
