In line with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s push for educational support and Governor Babagana Umara Zulum’s ongoing commitment to improving access to quality education, Rt. Hon. Engr. Satomi Ahmad, FNSE, the Member representing Jere Federal Constituency in Borno State, has made a significant contribution to students’ futures by disbursing N20 million in educational grants on Sunday, 8 September, 2024.

The funds were awarded to 1,000 students from Jere who are currently pursuing tertiary education across Nigeria.
This annual scholarship program, held at the Multi-Purpose Hall of Prime Lodge in Maiduguri, is aimed at empowering students to pursue their studies without the burden of financial constraints.
The initiative is also part of a broader effort to contribute to the development of the community and address the critical issue of out-of-school children in the region.
A total of 2,500 students applied for the scholarship this year. From this pool, a committee selected the 1,000 beneficiaries, ensuring the process was free from political or ethnic bias.

The selection criteria primarily focused on students who were struggling to pay their tuition fees due to financial difficulties.
This fair and transparent approach ensured that the grants reached the most deserving students, regardless of their background.
In an interview, Satomi Ahmad emphasized the importance of collective action in tackling the challenge of out-of-school children.

He mentioned his ongoing support for the Commission for Almajiri and Out-of-School Children, highlighting the need for all stakeholders to join forces in addressing this critical issue.

He emphasized that good certificates will open doors to better job opportunities in the future, contributing to their personal success and the development of their community.
The event was well-attended by student leaders, community stakeholders, and other dignitaries who praised Satomi Ahmad for his unwavering commitment to education, job creation, poverty alleviation, and various empowerment initiatives.

In recognition of his contributions to both Western and Islamic education in Borno State, Satomi Ahmad received a special award from Talba International School for Quranic Education.
