The Federal Government has initiated a plan to enhance the quality of education across the nation by embarking on the upgrade of 50 selected senior secondary schools.
 This ambitious project aims to improve the educational infrastructure and facilities available to students in these institutions, thus enhancing an environment conducive to effective learning and development.
Dr. Iyela Ajayi, the Executive Secretary of the Senior Secondary Education Commission (NSSCE), revealed this pivotal initiative during a recent engagement in Lafia, the capital of Nasarawa State.
 Speaking at a courtesy visit hosted by Dr. John Mamman, the Commissioner of Education, Dr. Ajayi said the government was prioritizing the advancement of the education sector.
 Notably, Government College, Nasarawa, has been identified as one of the schools slated for the upgrade, signaling a tangible step towards improving educational standards nationwide.
 Dr. Ajayi emphasized the substantial allocation earmarked for the education sector in the 2024 appropriation Act is a pointer to President Bola Tinubu’s dedication to educational development.
The inclusion of the senior secondary school upgrade project in the budget reflects the administration’s unwavering commitment to enhancing senior secondary education across the country.
Dr. Ajayi also stressed the importance of collaboration between the Nasarawa State Ministry of Education and the appointed consultant tasked with overseeing the upgrade process.
This partnership is essential for ensuring a seamless and successful implementation of the project, underscoring the need for concerted efforts towards achieving educational excellence.
In response, Mal. Mohammed Sani Bala, the Permanent Secretary of the Nasarawa State Ministry of Education, conveyed heartfelt appreciation for the selection of Nasarawa State as one of the beneficiaries of this initiative.
He pledged full support from the state government to facilitate the smooth execution of the upgrade, demonstrating a collective commitment to advancing educational opportunities for students in the region.
Additionally, Mal. Gambo Sulieman, the Principal of Government College, Nasarawa, expressed confidence in the success of the planned upgrades.
 He identified various areas within the college that would benefit from intervention, including the improvement of the school’s perimeter fence, enhancement of the e-library and conventional library facilities, construction of a multi-purpose hall, renovation of students’ hostels, and classrooms, and provision of staff quarters for teachers.
