Fear Grips Tokulo Community in FCT as 12 Bodies Believed to Be Bandits Found

—

Residents of Tokulo, a community in Bwari Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), have been thrown into a state of fear following the discovery of 12 bodies, believed to be those of bandits on Tuesday morning.

The unsettling discovery has left locals deeply concerned, as the area has been plagued by repeated attacks by bandits in recent months.

Jerry Alkali, the councillor representing Igu Ward in Bwari Area Council, confirmed the incident, stating that the corpses remained at the scene as of Tuesday.

He also mentioned that authorities had been alerted about the situation, but no official explanation has yet been provided regarding how the bodies came to be there.

According to another resident, who spoke on condition of anonymity, none of the victims were from the local community.

The resident speculated that the deceased might have been hired or brought into the area before being killed, potentially by security forces. However, no concrete details have emerged about the circumstances surrounding the deaths.

Tokulo has been a hotspot for violent attacks carried out by bandits, which have resulted in the deaths of both local residents and security personnel.

The community is also the hometown of the current chairman of the Bwari Area Council, making the situation all the more concerning for its residents.

This incident mirrors a similar occurrence in September, when five bodies, also suspected to be bandits, were found in the Kawu community, another part of the Bwari Area Council.

These repeated discoveries have raised alarm among residents, who fear for their safety and the growing insecurity in the region.

An official from the FCT Special Anti-kidnapping Unit confirmed the discovery of the bodies in Tokulo but declined to provide any further details on the events that led to the deaths.

As residents await an official statement from authorities, the uncertainty surrounding the incident continues to fuel anxiety within the community.

Many are now left wondering about the circumstances that led to the deaths of the 12 individuals and what further threats might still be looming in the area.
