FCTA Earmarks N1.7 Billion For Smart Secondary School

The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has earmarked N1.7 billion from the 2024 budget to kickstart a groundbreaking Smart Secondary School initiative in Karshi. FCT Minister Nyesom Wike highlighted the necessity of embracing digital education trends, aiming to eliminate traditional tools like papers and pens in favor of a tech-centric approach. The proposed smart school, part of a broader N13.1 billion allocation for school infrastructure, is set to revolutionize education in the region.
Equipped with cutting-edge facilities and a focus on e-learning, it marks the beginning of a shift towards digital teaching methods within the Federal Capital Territory. Wike, speaking through Dr. Danlami Hayyo, the Mandate Secretary of the Education Secretariat, emphasized the importance of staying in sync with global educational advancements. The Smart Secondary School is positioned to be a trailblazer, featuring not only modern classrooms but also boarding facilities to enhance the overall learning experience.
Earlier recognition of public school students’ outstanding achievements in academics and sports took place in Abuja, where the Director of the Secondary School Management Board, Dr. Mohammed Ladan, commended both students and teachers. While celebrating success, Ladan also raised concerns about teachers being under the Parents Teachers Association payroll, urging the FCT Minister to consider providing them with full employment.
The establishment of the Smart Secondary School reflects a commitment to embracing digital education and sets the stage for future developments in educational technology within the Federal Capital Territory.
