FBI Arrests Singer Michael Smith for $10 Million AI-Powered Streaming Fraud

The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has arrested Michael Smith, a popular American singer, for allegedly earning $10 million in royalties through fraudulent methods involving artificial intelligence (AI) and bots.

Authorities claim that Smith used AI tools and automated bots to artificially stream his songs billions of times, inflating his streaming numbers and revenue.

According to the charges, Smith is facing serious legal consequences. He has been charged with three major offenses: wire fraud, wire fraud conspiracy, and money laundering conspiracy. Each of these charges carries a maximum prison sentence of 20 years, as stated by the U.S. Department of Justice in an official news release.

The release explained that Smith’s actions not only violated the law but also took advantage of the music industry’s royalty system.

U.S. Attorney Damian Williams commented, “As alleged, Michael Smith fraudulently streamed songs created with artificial intelligence billions of times to steal royalties.”

Williams further emphasized the gravity of the situation, stating, “Through his brazen fraud scheme, Smith stole millions in royalties that should have gone to other rightful rights holders whose songs were legitimately streamed.”

In conclusion, the U.S. Attorney praised the FBI for their diligent efforts in investigating the case. “Thanks to the FBI and the career prosecutors of this Office, it’s time for Smith to face the music,” Williams remarked.
