To take home
Standing heroes
They stood the test of time
Not falling in the nick of it
Like soldiers who won the battle of time
Wait in the field after the war
For the last touch of honour
Ponder on the lying heroes
If nature’s arrow did fall
Then let nature bury; icing the cake
If a bird or creeping beast
Then its armour of service was not meet
Save they left as anger of hunger fled
Pity to the hanging disabled heroes
Hijacked or suicide. Public shame
Now to the living heroes
Honour them with a fall
And take them home to men
