Former Minister of Youth and Sports Development, comrade Solomon Dalung, has said he does not foresee a straightforward winner in the 2027 presidential election.
Dalung made the remark in a podcast, Conversations with Professor Jideofor Adibe, where he discussed the political outlook ahead of the 2027 general election.
“As it stands now, I don’t foresee a straight winner in 2027,” he said.
He said the political situation ahead of the election had become difficult to predict, pointing to the strength and influence of major presidential contenders.
Dalung said Peter Obi could retain votes in some areas where he had influence, while former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar could do the same.
“Peter Obi might save votes in some areas of his influence in the North. Atiku will do the same, but I don’t foresee a straight winner in 2027,” he said.

He also questioned President Bola Tinubu’s certainty of victory, saying the President could not point to a single state where he was sure of winning, including his home state.
“Tinubu, as he stands, cannot tell you one single state where he’s sure of winning, even his Yoruba state,” Dalung said.
