Ex-Super Eagles Captain Troost-Ekong Joins Qatar’s Al Ahli in 2028 Deal

Al Ahli SC have strengthened their defensive ranks with the signing of former Super Eagles captain, William Troost-Ekong, as the Qatar Stars League side steps up its push for a strong end to the season.

The experienced centre-back completed his move from Saudi club Al Kholood to the Doha-based outfit, penning a contract that runs until June 2028.

Troost-Ekong will wear his trademark No. 5 jersey and is expected to bring leadership and stability to Al Ahli’s backline.

Confirming the move on social media, the 32-year-old defender wrote: “Next chapter! Happy to be here, part of the @ahliqat family!”

He made 49 appearances for Al Kholood, scoring two goals and playing a key leadership role during his spell.

Al Ahli SC believe the signing will add experience and depth to their squad as the campaign enters a crucial phase.
