Ex Presidential Aide, Bashir Ahmad Calls For Tiktok Regulation

Former presidential aide Bashir Ahmad has called for stricter regulation of TikTok in Nigeria.
He expressed concern that the social media platform is being used by criminals, including bandits, kidnappers, and terrorists, to communicate with the public.
Ahmad highlighted that some of these individuals even engage in live conversations on the platform, defending their activities.
He warned that TikTok is causing significant harm to the country by giving these criminals a space to spread their propaganda and misinformation.
Ahmad urged for tighter regulations and content monitoring to prevent these dangerous individuals from using the platform for malicious purposes.
He tweeted on Thursday morning:
“It is alarming that TikTok, a global social media platform, is being utilized by criminals such as bandits, kidnappers, and terrorists in Nigeria to interact with the public and, in some cases, even engage in live conversations defending their heinous activities. The platform is causing more harm than good to our country, as it not only amplifies the voices of these criminals but also emboldens them by providing a space to spread their propaganda and misinformation.
“Nigeria needs stricter regulations and content monitoring on TikTok to prevent those dangerous individuals from using it for their malicious agendas.”
