Ex-Nasarawa Deputy Governor Agara Dumps NDE Role for Senate Ambition

—

The Director-General of the National Directorate of Employment, Silas Ali Agara, has stepped down from his position to contest the forthcoming Nasarawa North senatorial by-election.

Agara, a former Deputy Governor of Nasarawa State, announced his resignation during his 54th birthday celebration in Akwanga, where he confirmed his intention to enter the race.

However, his ambition may face early hurdles within the All Progressives Congress (APC). Party stakeholders, in a meeting chaired by Governor Abdullahi Sule, resolved that the party’s ticket should be zoned to Nasarawa Eggon Local Government Area.

The senatorial seat became vacant after Senate President Godswill Akpabio formally declared it open following the death of Senator Godiya Akwashiki of the Social Democratic Party (SDP).
