Ex-Anambra Governor, Mbadinuju Not Dead – Family

The family of former Anambra Governor, Barr Chinwoke Mbadinuju, has debunked rumours making the rounds that he died in the early hours of Wednesday.
The social media was yesterday awash with the information as many condoled with the family over the purported loss.
Mbadinuju was sworn in as governor of Anambra State in 1999 following the return to Democracy and served out a 4-year tenure before losing reelection to Chris Ngige.
A statement on Thursday, on behalf of the family by Barr. Cheta Mbadinuju described the rumours as false, saying the ex governor is well and alive.
“For the past hours, our family has been inundated with calls about the disheartening rumour, milling around of the death of His Excellency, Dr Chinwoke Mbadinuju, (Odera), our Patriarch.
“This is to clarify the issues surrounding the rumour.
“His Excellency, Dr Chinwoke Mbadinuju is very much alive and doing well, enjoying his elderly age and managing his health challenges, as with any person in their mid seventies.
“He and our mother celebrated their 49th year wedding anniversary just yesterday, 30th December, with close family and friends.
“I want to appreciate all those who through calls, texts and visits have sought the true position of the circumstances. I thank everyone for their concerns, and caution those who are spreading the unfounded rumour to please desist from such unscrupulousness.
“Only God has the power of life and death.
“Once, more thank you all for your concerns; and wishing everyone a Prosperous New Year,” the statement said.
