A 38-year-old man who claims to be an evangelist has been arrested by the Anambra Police Command for allegedly raping a 12-year-old girl in Okpunoegbu village Nnewi, in Nnewi Council Area of Anambra State.
The suspect, one Chukwudi Ndubuisi, was said to have lured the girl, who is his neighbour’s daughter and had unlawful carnal knowledge of her.
TNC gathered that the suspect had confessed to committing the immoral act which took place on the 28th of last month.
Confirming the incident, the Police Public Relations Officer in Anambra, Haruna Mohammed said police detectives took the victim to the hospital for medical Examination where penetration and laceration of her hymen was confirmed by the medical doctor.
He also revealed that the case has been transferred to the State criminal investigation department for discreet investigation as directed by the State Commissioner of Police, John Abang.
“The suspect would be charged to court for prosecution as soon as investigation is concluded,” he said.
