Etsu Nupe declares firm stance against disunity within the Nupe community

The Etsu Nupe and Chairman of the Niger State Council of Traditional Rulers, Alhaji Yahaya Abubakar, emphasized that any form of disunity among the Nupe people, whether at home or in the Diaspora, will not be tolerated.

During a recent visit to his Wadata palace in Bida, Niger state, by some distinguished individuals who received traditional titles, he urged the Nupe community to invest meaningfully in the Nupe kingdom, aiming to contribute to the overall development of the area, Niger state, and Nigeria.

According to the Etsu Nupe, disunity hampers the socio-economic and political progress of the Kin Nupe, Niger state, and the entire nation.

He called on Nupe individuals worldwide to foster love and unity, emphasizing that these values are crucial for the peace and progress of the community.

Alhaji Abubakar challenged affluent Nupe individuals, especially those residing abroad, to return home and establish industries in the kingdom.

He believes that such initiatives would play a vital role in advancing the socio-economic development of Kin Nupe.

The monarch highlighted the potential impact of investments and industries in mitigating rising unemployment rates and alleviating poverty in the country.

Likewise, Etsu Nupe attributed many of Nigeria’s challenges, including insecurity, to youth unrest triggered by unemployment and poverty.

He expressed the traditional institutions’ commitment to honoring those who contribute to the development of Nupe Kingdom, the state, country, and humanity at large.

The traditional titles bestowed upon individuals are a recognition of their integrity and dedication to the well-being of the emirate.

The Etsu Nupe stressed the importance of exemplary lives for the general good of the country, using the titles as a means to encourage others to follow suit.

He also commended the people of the kingdom for their support in promoting his peace agenda, highlighting the fundamental role of peace in development.

Responding on behalf of the newly honored title holders, retired AIG Umar Abubakar-Manko, previously known as “Wucinbe Nupe” and now elevated to “Giyan Nupe,” assured the Etsu Nupe of their unwavering commitment to their responsibilities.

Giyan Nupe expressed gratitude for the bestowed honor and pledged to contribute significantly to the development of the Nupe kingdom, Niger state, and Nigeria as a whole.
