Erik ten Hag – Fundamental errors cost us the game at Galatasaray

Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag has asserted that they lost their UEFA Champions League away game to Galatasaray due to some fundamental errors. In a post match interview with TNT and Bein Sports, The Dutch man said he would back Andre Onana regardless of his horrendous error that made Casemiro receive a red card.

Despite Hojlund’s brace, Manchester were beaten by 3-2 following their poor display away at Galatasaray.

MISTAKES COST US

“I think we were twice up and we were controlling the game. And then, yeah, some errors, some fundamental errors we make [which] we normally wouldn’t have in the game. And you can’t allow them at this level. You get punished for it. It’s difficult to control, but we are all together, in this. It’s not only one making such an error, it’s as a team we make such errors, so you don’t win the game, which was totally unnecessary because as I said, you are twice up, so you are in control of the game and then you don’t expect this outcome.”

TEN HAG: WE HAVE TO FACE THE TRUTH

WE NEED GREATER CONTROL

“It’s not easy to score goals in this [Champions] League so you have to be more focused and co-operate, so you don’t concede goals so quickly [after scoring]. But it’s also about keeping the ball and keeping control in the game, and we have to improve in that fact.”

HALF-TIME CHANGE WAS TACTICAL

“No, I felt he [Hannibal] played well but I wanted some passing capabilities in the midfield area, that’s why we brought Christian Eriksen in.”

HOJLUND MAKES AN IMPACT

“He played a very good game and he was a threat all the way through. He scored two great goals, so we are happy with that. Of course, finally now you don’t win the game. And also you see Rasmus is very disappointed, but he can be really happy with his goals.”

I’LL SPEAK WITH ONANA

“I have to talk with more players, but I also have to talk with Andre of course. I will do and I will back him, because he’s a great goalkeeper.”
