#EndBadGovernance Protest Paralyzes Commercial Activities in Niger State

—

The Nationwide #EndBadGovernance protest has disrupted commercial activities across parts of Niger State, of Nigeria.

In Minna, traders at the Abdulkadir Kure Ultra Market were forced to lock up their stores as hoodlums attempted to force entry into the market.
In the Tunga area, youths took to the streets, setting tires on fire and creating barricades on major roads. They also attempted to loot shops, but timely intervention by the police prevented further chaos.
A more disturbing incident occurred in Tafa, where hoodlums, disguised as protesters, set fire to the local government council secretariat and looted a warehouse storing assorted grains.
Tragedy struck in Suleja, where three people were killed by stray bullets during attempts by protesters to vandalize commercial shops.
To maintain security and prevent further violence, a joint team of police, the Department of State Security Service, and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps were deployed to strategic entry points in Minna.
Security personnel were also placed on guard duty at key public buildings, including hospitals and conference centers.
The protest has caused significant disruptions throughout Niger State. Major streets have been deserted, and many civil servants have been forced to remain at home due to safety concerns. Youths setting fire to tires on major roads have further added to the chaos.
In response to the escalating situation, the Niger State government, in collaboration with security agencies, has taken various measures to forestall further violence and ensure public safety.
