#EndBadGovernance Protest: NSCDC Confirms Security of Critical Assets Amid Abuja Protests

—

Dr. Olusola Odumosu, the Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) for the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), reported no incidents of vandalism of Critical National Assets and Infrastructure (CNAI) during the ongoing protests in Abuja.

This statement came after he inspected several key sites, including railway stations in Wupa, Kukwaba, Bassanjiwa, Gwagwa, and Idu, as well as the headquarters of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company, the FCT Water Board in Asokoro, and the Abuja Central Mosque.

Odumosu praised the protesters for not disrupting activities at these sites, emphasizing the importance of protecting CNAI, which is vital to the community. He noted that while peaceful protests are a right, the Corps would not tolerate any destruction of government properties.

He did, however, express concern over incidents where motorists were attacked and private vehicles were burned in the Lugbe and Nyanya areas, respectively.

During his visit to the Idu railway station, FCT Administration (FCTA) Director of Transport, Engr. Joseph Akinteye, commended the NSCDC personnel for their efforts in securing the railway stations, highlighting the absence of vandalism as evidence of their dedication.

Odumosu assured the public that the NSCDC would continue to monitor the situation closely and take necessary actions to ensure the safety and security of all critical infrastructures and residents in the FCT.
