Prince Eze Madumere, the former Deputy Governor of Imo State, has called for peace and calm among Nigerian youths and those leading the hunger protest.
He said their voices have been heard nationwide and urged them to accept President Bola Tinubu’s offer for dialogue to find lasting solutions.
Speaking in Owerri, Imo State’s capital, Prince Madumere emphasized that it is better to discuss issues peacefully rather than resort to conflict. He advised the Federal Government to maintain open communication with the protest leaders.
“In a democracy, people have the right to protest peacefully. Once your concerns are acknowledged, the next step is to stop protesting and start talking to find mutual solutions. I urge the youths and protest leaders to embrace peace and dialogue with the government and President Tinubu, who is willing to listen,” he said.
Prince Madumere also praised the South East leaders and governors for preventing protests in their region, highlighting that development requires peace. He thanked the South East youths for staying calm and encouraged political party members nationwide to help rebuild and refocus the country for the betterment of society, especially the youth.
He expressed condolences to the families who lost loved ones during the protest and prayed for their strength.
Addressing comments urging Igbos to leave Lagos State, Prince Madumere affirmed that every Nigerian has the right to live anywhere in the country. He commended President Tinubu, Lagos State Governor Sanwo-Olu, Governor Uzodimma, and Ohanaeze Ndigbo for their quick response to these comments.
“Nigeria is one united country, and Igbos have the right to live and do business anywhere. No one can force you to leave,” he said.
He called on experienced leaders and industry experts to support President Tinubu in addressing the country’s challenges. “Now is the time for wise advice to help the Federal Government. All stakeholders should come together and contribute their knowledge,” he added.
Prince Madumere encouraged Nigerians to support President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, trusting in his ability to lead the nation toward a better future that aligns with their collective dreams and aspirations. He emphasized that supporting the president now would help build a nation that reflects the hopes and aspirations of its people.
