Emir of Wase connects Plateau killings to lack of political resolve

The Emir of Wase, Alhaji Muhammadu Haruna, pointed out that the persistent violence in Plateau State is a result of the failure of past leaders to act on the recommendations of Commission of Inquiries reports and hold wrongdoers accountable.

He emphasized the need for current leaders to take decisive action to curb the ongoing killings and ensure those responsible are brought to justice.

During a meeting with Governor Caleb Muftwang, Haruna expressed concern that the lack of accountability for over two decades has allowed the crises to persist.

He urged the governor to take full responsibility for the situation, emphasizing that no one should be exempt from facing consequences for their actions.

The Emir assured the governor of the Muslim community’s support, emphasizing solidarity in both good and challenging times.

Haruna also encouraged Governor Muftwang to tap into the intellectual resources within the Muslim community to address the issues effectively.

He highlighted the presence of capable individuals who have not been adequately utilized.

In response, Governor Muftwang rejected allegations that he harbored ill feelings towards Muslims, affirming his commitment to fairness and justice for all residents of Plateau State.

He acknowledged the need to dispel misconceptions and assured the Muslim community of his genuine concern for their well-being.

The governor emphasized that Plateau is known for its peaceful coexistence and vowed to confront any forces attempting to disrupt that harmony.

He echoed the Emir’s call for accountability, pledging to make arrests, ensure prosecutions, and uphold the rule of law.

Governor Muftwang has declared a joint endeavor to thwart the ambitions of those attempting to disrupt the peaceful atmosphere of the state.

He has emphatically pledged to illustrate that engaging in criminal activities will not go without consequences, emphasizing his commitment to ensuring wrongdoers face appropriate punishment.
