Elon Musk’s AI company, xAI, has secured $6 billion in a Series B funding round.
Major investors in this round include Valor Equity Partners, Andreessen Horowitz, and Sequoia Capital.
The money will be used to launch xAI’s products in the market, build the necessary infrastructure, and conduct research and development of new technologies.
xAI aims to create advanced AI systems that are honest, skilled, and beneficial for people.
The company has been actively working on its products, with plans announced in July 2023 and the release of the Grok-1 model in November 2023.
Since then, xAI has made improvements with the Grok-1.5 and Grok-1.5V models.
Grok-1 was released as an open-source model to encourage advancements and optimizations.
Despite a downturn in tech funding, AI startups have continued to attract investment, particularly those with specialized applications.
In 2023, AI startup funding reached $25.2 billion, significantly higher than in previous years.
Investors in this sector prioritize market approach, team, technology, and execution planning.
