Elon Musk Says Fear of Failure Is Killing Innovation in Tech Companies

Elon Musk, founder of Tesla and SpaceX, shared a lesson on workplace productivity on his X account.

The post was made on Thursday morning in reference to one of his earlier remarks. It read: “Incentives drive outcomes.”

According to the 54-year-old entrepreneur’s earlier post on Wednesday, “If you punish people too much for failure, they will respond accordingly, and the innovation you will get will be very incremental.”

Elon explained that under such conditions, nobody would attempt anything bold for fear of being fired or otherwise punished.

“So risk-reward must be balanced and favor taking bold moves, otherwise it will not happen,” he said.

Many users on X reacted positively to the post. One user, Jackie Desh, wrote: “If I had had teachers like him, I probably would’ve achieved more. I truly feel for our children today, with the education system that is in place.”

Another user praised Musk’s daring, stating that he is the reason many people can dream of living on Mars.
