X, previously known as Twitter and now owned by Elon Musk, is working on a feature that lets users downvote replies.
It looks like a “dislike” button with a broken heart icon in the X app for iOS.
Before this, Twitter tested both upvoting and downvoting for all posts. Now, they are focusing on letting users downvote replies.
This is meant to improve thread rankings by highlighting better replies and reducing the visibility of less popular content.
Reverse engineers recently found new clues and images related to this downvote feature in the X app. It is not clear yet if this feature will affect all posts or just replies at first.
Public sightings and tests of the dislike button suggest that X is still developing it and might release it widely later.
Recall that X decided to hide likes from public view to encourage more interaction with controversial posts.
