Elon Musk Drops Lawsuit Against OpenAI
Elon Musk
Tesla boss, Elon Musk has requested a California court to dismiss his legal case against OpenAI and its CEO, Sam Altman.
The lawsuit accused them of straying from the company’s original mission of developing AI for the betterment of humanity.
Musk’s lawyers submitted the filing without providing any explanation for the abrupt decision.
The move comes just before the scheduled court hearing, leaving speculation about the motives behind Musk’s action.
Both Musk’s representatives and OpenAI have been contacted for comments.
The filing requests dismissal “without prejudice,” leaving the possibility of reactivation in the future.
This development follows Musk’s lawsuit filed in February, alleging OpenAI’s shift towards profit-making instead of altruism.
The feud escalated recently when Apple announced a partnership with OpenAI, triggering criticism from Musk.
Despite the controversy, Apple’s stock value surged, reaching a record high.
Musk’s involvement in AI continues through his own company, xAI, which launched the chatbot Grok in a bid to compete with technologies like ChatGPT.
