According to CNN, Egypt’s military-backed government has resigned.

The government headed by Prime Minister Hazem El Beblawi tendered its resignation to President Adly Mansour, CNN said.

Political analysts have speculated that Army Chief Abdel-Fatah El Sisi, who served as defence minister may run for president.

To run for president, he has to resign from the army.

Egypt has seen a wave of renewed political turbulence since the ousting of Mohammed Morsi.

It is not clear where the most populous Arab nation is headed as some of problems that precipitated a revolution still fester.
