EFCC seizes 21 trucks of food headed to Cameroon and nearby nations in Maiduguri

The Maiduguri Zonal Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) took action on Tuesday.

They stopped 21 trucks that were carrying different things, like food and other items. These trucks were on their way to N’djamena in Chad, the Central African Republic, and Cameroon.

The EFCC stopped them along important roads in Borno State. They did this to stop smuggling.

The EFCC said they found hidden food items in the trucks. They only noticed them because they were being very careful.

A statement issued by the agency said, “Investigation showed food items cleverly concealed in the trucks that would have gone undetected but for the eagle-eyed vigilance of operatives of the Commission.”

The papers for the goods said they were going to N’djamena, Chad Republic, Central African Republic, and Cameroon. Stopping these trucks should help stop food shortages caused by smugglers.

The people caught with the trucks will be looked into more closely. After the EFCC finishes their investigations, these people will have to go to court.
