EFCC agent ran over by fleeing suspect

Jonathan Barde, an operative of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has been seriously injured after a suspect fleeing fraud allegations knocked him down. The suspect, Tajudeen Oluwanishola, drove over him in a desperate move to escape.

Barde, was rushed to the Military
Hospital, Ikoyi, Lagos for medical attention, after sustaining serious injuries. This was contained in a statement by the commission.

Describing the incident, the statement said that the suspect, who resides in Gbagada Estate neighbourhood, rammed his car into the van that conveyed the operatives, damaging the van and injuring the Barde in the process.

“Unfortunately for Oluwanishola, who bolted upon sighting the investigative team led by Pius Akoji, his escape bid
was foiled by a Rapid Response Patrol team which
apprehended him and handed him over to the EFCC,” the
commission stated.

According to the anti-graft agency, Oluwanishola is being
investigated for an alleged internet banking fraud of N5.5 million.
