Edo Guber: Ighodalo Declares Intention To Run, Harps On Development

As the battle for who becomes the next Edo state governor draws closer, the immediate past Chairman of Sterling Bank, Asue Ighodalo, has join the race with a pledge to reposition the state for development if voted in as governor in the September 21 2024 governorship election.

 

During his official declaration to contest the governorship election, the banker who is running under the platform of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, made the pledge at the Party’s state secretariat in Benin, the Edo state capital.

 

While speaking to leaders and party supporters, Asue stated that he was running for Governor to unveil real solutions that can stir the promise of a new future for the people of Edo state.

 

He said that in the past, he had advised the state leaders on how to resolve some of the problems bedeviling the state, however he was now asking for the opportunity to provide the real solution.

 

He stated further; “My mission will be to create an Edo where quality education is accessible to all, where hard work is rewarded and where our talented youth can turn their dreams and aspirations into reality.

 

“I believe strongly that education is the gateway to opportunity, so we will continue to invest in education as a priority from primary schools to secondary and tertiary institutions — throughout the state. State’s educational system our key to ending generational poverty, for good, in our great state”.

 

The former Sterling Bank boss, said he believes in the promise of an Edo state where every person, regardless of their start in life, can write their own story of success -if the take right steps were collectively taken.

 

Asue maintained that his ultimate objective is to lead a government that ends deprivation in all its forms, and makes Edo the best place to live and work in Nigeria adding that his administration’s economic policies will uplift the poor, support the hard-working men and women of this state, and encourage entrepreneurship and innovation.

 

While stating that no part of the state would be left out in his development goal, the PDP gubernatorial aspirant averred that from the high plains of Kukuruku to the lush vegetation of Ilushi; from the rich, red sands of Sakponba, to Esanlands’ incredible biodiversity, will all be paid attention to in order to make the state an interesting destination for wealth and progress.
