Governor Babagana Umara Zulum of Borno State has encouraged Christians in the region to use the Easter season as a time to pray for the state and the entire country to develop and prosper.

In a statement released by his New Media aide, Abdulrahman Bundi, Zulum emphasized the significance of Easter, which is celebrated by Christians worldwide to commemorate the resurrection of Jesus Christ.

Addressing the Christian community, Zulum extended his warm wishes and urged everyone to come together in prayer for the progress and prosperity of Nigeria.

“Let me, on this auspicious occasion, felicitate with our Christian brothers and sisters in Borno and throughout the country.”

“I urge us all in this solemn period to commit to prayers for the development and prosperity of our dear country”.

He specifically called for prayers for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, asking for divine guidance and wisdom in leading the nation towards greatness.

Zulum said “I urge you to pray for President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, for God’s guidance and wisdom to steer the affairs of Nigeria for greatness.”

Recognizing the challenges faced by the people of Borno, especially in the aftermath of years of Boko Haram insurgency, Zulum affirmed his commitment to meeting the expectations of the state’s residents.

He highlighted the achievements made in various sectors over the past five years, including investments in education, healthcare, agriculture, and access to clean water.

“Fellow citizens of Borno, as your governor, I understand the burden this office places on me. In the last five years, we have achieved remarkable success in our efforts to restore peace in our state.”

Zulum also emphasized his personal involvement in distributing relief materials to vulnerable communities affected by the insurgency, aiming to restore hope and deter individuals from joining extremist groups.

Additionally, he pledged to intensify efforts to alleviate the hardships faced by the people of Borno.

Acknowledging the economic difficulties compounded by the insurgency, Zulum outlined measures to promote agriculture as a sustainable solution for food security.

He disclosed recent discussions with the President to improve security in the Lake Chad region, facilitating the reactivation of the South Chad irrigation scheme to support agricultural productivity.

“I have met the President, and he gave his assurance of improving security in Lake Chad, to give access for the re-activation of the South Chad irrigation scheme.”

Assuring the citizens of Borno of his administration’s unwavering commitment to their welfare, Zulum vowed to provide effective leadership conducive to development.

He pledged to adopt a comprehensive approach to address key issues such as security, economic growth, youth unemployment, and other critical areas, ensuring a brighter future for the people of Borno State.

“We will employ a multifaceted approach in providing solutions to our problems in the areas of security, economy, youth unemployment and other critical areas.
